January is well and truly underway and Christmas and New Year seem like a distant memory to us now, but let’s not forget the huge effort and money raised in 2011! We thank you all for your ongoing support and for the enthusiasm you have brought to the Trust through the fundraising events in 2011.
2012 is an exciting year for the Trust. Funds continue to be generated for the completion of the well and it is hoped that a solar pump and water storage tanks will be installed in the school site within the next few months.

A week ago last Saturday we had the great news that we had successfully found water 600 metres from the site and school buildings. Thanks to the generosity of Anne and Paul Corrigan and their tremendous fund raising event on Friday of last week, we will be able to have water pumped up to storage tanks to provide showers and water for the school. They raised £5,000 and are very grateful for all the support they received on the evening!
We also have a sponsored event coming up in 2012 to raise £20,000 for the construction of a girls hostel. This is a vital link to start our intake of girls into The Edinburgh Girls High School and we are very pleased that Dan Goodwin and Emma Ryan have grasped the spirit of adventure and committed to ride 5,000miles from Nairobi, Kenya to Cape Town, South Africa, to raise money to aid The Chesney Trust. You can read all about Dan and Emma on their WEB page www.thebigafricanride.com and you can sponsor them as they train for the next 11 months before their ride in September 2012.
Here they are completing their first training session last Friday after 4 days on the Coast to Coast Route, Workington to Sunderland. Well done both of you! If you would like to support them you can donate on our new JustTextGiving facility. Just pick up your phone and TEXT

We have had to have a second print run on the calendar so hurry and order yours soon.
