The Chesney Trust benefits from contributions made by individuals, grants from government and private enterprises and fund raising events organised by organisations that have a significant interest in the project. Donations have also been received from The Allan & Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust, Ryklow Charitable Trust 1992, Boots, Coop, St. Ninian’s Church, Kirkintilloch, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Aberfoyle, St. Maurice’s High School, Cumbernauld, and many individuals.
The Chesney Trust itself organises fund raising events and you can see some of the photos from these events in our 2009 Calendar. Individuals have walked, run and climbed for sponsorship to raise money and the schools and colleges that visited us in Malawi have made donations of money and also in kind by providing us with a much needed extra laptop computer. You can see their blogs in the Expedition pages. Building will proceed at a rate that is determined by our income level, and we are always actively seeking funds with a view to completing the first Phase of construction.
Over the last 2 Years The Mary Erskine & Stewarts Melville Junior School has played a significant part in the project. They have collected, participated and held various fund raising initiatives that have contributed immeasurably to the fund raising total so far. When the school opens it will be called The Edinburgh High School for Girls and the girls will wear donated uniform from The School Thrift Shop and donations from parents of good quality second hand uniform.
